TransformNew Location, New Momentum: Future8 Expands into Berlin’s Innovation Ecosystem
Joining the expanded EURICE premises in Berlin, Future8 strengthens its role in connecting research, innovation ecosystems and societal impact - and launches a new Technology Transfer Facility for Impact (TT4I)
Future8 has established a new presence in Berlin, joining the enlarged EURICE office space in the German capital. The move gives Future8 a stronger foothold in one of Europe’s most dynamic innovation ecosystems and creates new opportunities for exchange with research organisations, start-ups, investors, companies, public stakeholders and technology transfer communities.
Berlin offers a unique setting where scientific excellence, entrepreneurial energy, policy dialogue and openness to new ideas come together. For Future8, this provides an ideal environment for identifying emerging trends, developing strategic partnerships and advancing initiatives that translate innovation into societal value.
Future8 now shares the Berlin office with EURICE and INFINIRA Ventures, bringing complementary perspectives together under one roof. This closer on-site exchange strengthens the connection between collaborative research and innovation management, strategic positioning, ecosystem integration and impact-oriented technology transfer.
“For Future8, Berlin is more than a new location. It is a strategic base for working more closely with partners at the interface of research, technology transfer, entrepreneurship and societal impact,” says Jörg Scherer, Managing Director of Future8. “Being part of the shared EURICE Group office allows us to connect expertise across organisations more directly and to develop more integrated approaches for turning research-based innovation into tangible value for society.”
Establishing TT4I as a hub for impact-driven technology transfer
With its move to Berlin, Future8 is also establishing the Technology Transfer Facility for Impact (TT4I) as a German node of the wider TT4I Network. As part of the Impact Licensing Initiative, the TT4I Network brings together organisations that aim to advance technology transfer models focused not only on economic value, but also on measurable societal and environmental outcomes.
TT4Is act as independent intermediary entities that support the transfer of technologies from companies, universities and research institutions into societal markets. Their role includes identifying relevant technologies, connecting partners, supporting licensing processes and helping solutions move towards deployment and scaling in real-world contexts.
Together with INFINIRA Ventures, Future8 will operate the node and contribute to more structured, impact-driven approaches to technology transfer. The Berlin office provides a meeting point for partners from research, innovation, technology transfer, impact investing, social entrepreneurship, and policy. It will support Future8’s work in building partnerships, facilitating exchange, and contributing to future research and innovation activities with a strong focus on societal value creation.
With Berlin as a strong additional base, the Future8 team will reinforce its engagement with regional and national innovation ecosystems and connect these activities with the European perspective of the TT4I Network. “Through TT4I, we want to help strengthen technology transfer processes and complement them with a stronger impact-oriented perspective,” says Jörg Scherer. “This means looking beyond the transfer of individual technologies and asking how research-based solutions can be connected with the right partners, licensing pathways, and implementation contexts to address concrete societal challenges.”
