Bringing Advanced Therapies Closer to Society: Future8 Partners with EURICE for Berlin Science Week 2026

Innovation does not end with a scientific breakthrough or a new technology. Its wider impact also depends on whether new ideas find their way into practice, respond to societal needs and become part of a broader conversation. Creating spaces for this exchange is an important step in bringing research closer to the people it may ultimately affect.

This idea will take centre stage on 5 November, when Future8 partners with EURICE for the public panel discussion “How Could New Therapies Change Your Future?” as part of Berlin Science Week 2026. Focusing on Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), the event will open a highly specialised and rapidly evolving field of medicine to a broader discussion about its relevance for patients, healthcare and society.

The panel will feature Prof. Dr. Annette Künkele-Langer from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Dr. Katharina Günther from Green Elephant Biotech GmbH and Dr. Alexander Stumpf from SPARK-BIH. Their work reflects different dimensions of the environment in which medical innovation takes shape, spanning scientific and clinical advances, enabling technologies and the transfer of research into application. Their perspectives will offer insights into the expertise and structures that support the development of emerging therapies.

This ecosystem perspective is particularly relevant to Future8’s growing presence in Berlin. The city combines scientific excellence and clinical expertise with an active startup landscape, industry and a broad technology transfer community. Within this environment, Future8 seeks to foster the exchange and partnerships that allow promising ideas to develop further, cross disciplinary and institutional boundaries and generate value beyond their original research context.

The event also marks an opportunity to activate the new Berlin premises shared with EURICE as a place for this kind of exchange. Beyond their role as a working environment, the premises offer space for dialogue, encounters and new perspectives across the innovation ecosystem. Opening the doors during Berlin Science Week puts this idea into practice, inviting experts and the wider public to engage with a field whose scientific advances could have profound implications for the future of healthcare.

The discussion will be held in English and participation is free of charge. Registration is required and available via Eventbrite.
